The 2025-2026 winter season in Spain has officially begun, with ski resorts across the country preparing to welcome the first snow enthusiasts. For many, planning a vacation starts with the most important question: how much will it cost? A recent study has shed light on the financial side of winter holidays, revealing a dramatic difference in prices between regions and resorts. It turns out that the cost of a single day of skiing, including a ski pass and accommodation, can vary by as much as three times.
For those seeking the most budget-friendly option, the Castilla y León region once again confirms its status as the most affordable destination. Here you’ll find real gems for budget travelers. Leading the ranking are Manzaneda and Sierra de Béjar-La Covatilla, where the average daily budget is just 53 euros. A stay at Leitariegos is only slightly more expensive at 54 euros. These resorts are ideal for families with children and beginner skiers, offering a cozy atmosphere and easy slopes without the markup for a famous name. The top ten most affordable also include San Isidro (59.50 euros), Valgrande-Pajares (60.50 euros), and Fuentes de Invierno (62.50 euros), making northern Spain especially attractive for budget-conscious travelers.
At the opposite end of the price spectrum are the resorts of Aragón, traditionally considered to be upscale. The absolute leader in cost this season is Formigal, where a day on the slopes averages €171.75. This destination attracts experienced skiers with its vast skiing area, modern lifts, and vibrant nightlife. The second most expensive is the famed Sierra Nevada in Andalusia (€134), offering a unique chance to ski with views of the Mediterranean. Completing the top three is Aragón’s Candanchú (€132). Also on this prestigious list are Panticosa (€130.75) and the renowned Baqueira-Beret (€118.5), a favorite retreat of the Spanish royal family.
Between these two extremes, there are many resorts offering a balanced mix of price and quality. For example, Valdesquí and La Pinilla, popular among Madrid residents, offer daily packages around €72–73. Catalan resorts such as Masella and La Molina keep prices near €105. Price analysis was based on official ski pass rates and accommodation costs during peak season dates, providing the most objective picture for planning a winter getaway. The choice is clear: Spain offers options for every taste and budget, from modest family slopes to world-class luxury runs.
Incidentally, the study was conducted by one of Europe’s leading vacation rental booking platforms.
