Mass Strikes and Rallies in Support of Palestine Set for October 15 in Spain

Thousands of Spaniards to Take to the Streets for Palestine – What Unions and Activists Have Planned

A wave of protests and strikes is expected across Spain in mid-October. Trade unions and civil society groups are organizing large-scale events in solidarity with Palestine. Demonstrations and work stoppages are planned in various cities.

On Wednesday, October 15, Spain is expecting a large wave of protest events related to the situation in the Middle East. Strikes and rallies in support of the Palestinian people are scheduled across the country on this day. The demonstrations will take place not only in major cities but also in smaller municipalities, with both workers and activists from various movements taking part.

The main initiator of the general strike is the CGT union, which has called on Spaniards to show solidarity with the residents of the Gaza Strip. The organization insists on the need to end military actions and urges the authorities to focus efforts on social programs rather than funding armed conflicts. According to union representatives, what is happening in the region should not go unnoticed by European society.

On the same day, the country’s largest unions, CCOO and UGT, invited workers to take part in work stoppages at three different intervals: from 2 to 4 a.m., from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and from 5 to 7 p.m. This approach allows employees working different shifts to express their stance without fully disrupting the work process. In several companies, meetings are planned where participants will discuss the situation in Gaza and put forward demands to end the violence.

Mass rallies and demonstrations are expected in Madrid and other cities. Organizers emphasize that their goal is to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis and demand an immediate ceasefire. Additional events are planned for the coming days: on October 18 and 19, demonstrations will be held in more than two hundred localities, and a major rally will take place in the capital, starting from Puerta del Sol on Saturday morning. Participants intend to speak out against all forms of violence and call for freedom for Palestine.

Overall, October is shaping up to be a period of active public demonstrations in Spain. Trade unions and civic groups hope their actions will prompt the authorities to reconsider their priorities and focus on issues of peace and security. Thousands of people across the country are expected to join the protests.
