Visa applications for travel to Spain have once again become available in the Russian capital. After an unexpected technical pause lasting just a couple of days, the BLS visa center removed the suspension notice from its website. The homepage now once more displays information about free appointments for document submission.
Earlier, on September 13, the visa center’s website posted an announcement about the temporary suspension of application processing. The reason cited was technical difficulties, though no further details were given. This triggered a wave of questions from those planning imminent trips. By September 15, the suspension notice had been removed and appointment booking became available again.
Spain has traditionally been considered one of the most open Schengen countries for Russians. Along with Italy, France, and Greece, it continued to issue visas even as Europe tightened its visa policies. Therefore, even a brief halt in application acceptance caused concern among tourists and business travelers.
The document submission procedure remains unchanged. Appointments can be booked online, and this service is still free. The visa center reminds applicants that all stages of processing continue as usual. An increase in applications is expected over the coming weeks, as many had postponed their plans due to the uncertainty.
For those planning a trip to Spain, it is important to monitor updates on the visa center’s website. Despite temporary challenges, the country remains one of the few where Russians can still obtain a Schengen visa without unnecessary obstacles.
