In the Russian capital, the processing of visa applications to Spain has been temporarily suspended. The Consulate General of Spain in Moscow has unexpectedly stopped accepting new visa submissions. This information was reported in an official announcement published on the BLS visa center’s website.
The notice for visitors states that the office is unable to accept documents due to technical reasons. It is not yet known when operations will resume. All those who planned to submit their documents in the near future have to postpone their plans indefinitely.
Until recently, Spain was one of the few European countries where Russian citizens could obtain a Schengen visa with relative ease. Other such countries included Italy, France, and Greece. Now, however, the situation has changed, and Russians are facing another obstacle on the way to traveling to Spain.
It is still unclear whether the restriction is solely due to technical difficulties or if there are other reasons as well. Additional information is expected to be provided later. Meanwhile, tourists and business travelers are forced to wait for clarification and hope for the soonest possible resumption of consular services.
