With the arrival of September, Valencia transforms: the summer heat gradually recedes, and the city is filled with new leisure opportunities. During this period, large-scale events take place here, attracting the attention of both locals and tourists. Valencia becomes the center of the region’s cultural and sporting life.
Opening of a new space for music and sports
On September 6, Valencia will host the long-awaited opening of Roig Arena. This modern complex is already being called the future symbol of the city’s scene. The opening evening will feature a musical show dedicated to the memory of Nino Bravo. More than twenty renowned artists will perform on stage, including David Bisbal, Pablo López, Vanesa Martín, Malú, Marta Sánchez, and Sole Giménez. Each will present their own interpretation of the famous Valencian singer’s songs, creating an atmosphere of unity and nostalgia.
Final days of the Playmobil exhibition
Until September 11, the Valencia Military History Museum is hosting the unique exhibition “Los clicks de Playmobil reconquistan el Museo Militar”. Visitors can view six large-scale dioramas illustrating different historical eras: from the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa to modern NATO missions and the Balmis expedition. Admission to the exhibition is free, making it especially attractive for families with children.
Paella festival and culinary competitions
On September 20, Valencia will host World Paella Day, which coincides with the rice harvest season. On this day, the city celebrates its main gastronomic treasure. The highlight of the festivities will be the international culinary tournament, World Paella Day Cup 2025, taking place at La Marina. Top chefs from around the globe will compete in preparing the traditional dish, while visitors can sample different varieties of paella and follow the competition from early morning.
Photography festival and cultural initiatives
From September 2 to October 21, Valencia is hosting the fourth edition of the Valencia Photo International Festival of Photography and Debates. This year, the theme selected by organizers is “Expanding Boundaries.” More than 35 exhibitions, lectures, tours, and creative sessions will be held at iconic locations throughout the city: Palau de Cervelló, Almudín, Plaza de la Reina, La Llotgeta, FNAC San Agustín, the History Museum, Centre del Carme, and Centre de Cultura Contemporània Octubre. The festival brings together photographers, curators, and artists from around the world, reinforcing Valencia’s status as a hub for contemporary art.
Sports events and music concerts
On September 27, the 15K Nocturna will take place—a night run covering 15 kilometers that traditionally precedes the city marathon. The route winds through central streets and is open to both professional athletes and amateurs. The evening ambiance and illuminated streets create a unique atmosphere for all participants.
September is also rich in musical events. In addition to the Nino Bravo tribute, Camilo will perform at Roig Arena on September 12, and Manuel Carrasco on September 20. The musical month will conclude with a concert by Pedro Capó on September 26 at Sala Moon. The new Roig Arena is quickly becoming a major venue for large tours and concerts.
Weather and leisure conditions
In September, Valencia enjoys comfortable temperatures: during the day the thermometer hovers around 28°C, dropping to 18-20°C at night. This is the perfect time for strolls, attending events, and outdoor activities. The mild climate allows both locals and visitors to make the most of all that Valencia has to offer at the start of autumn.
