In Playa de Palma, Mallorca, National Police officers have detained two women suspected of illegal entry into a private residence and causing property damage. The incident occurred in the morning earlier this week when the tourists believed their stolen mobile phone was inside one of the rental apartments.
According to police, the women acted aggressively: they tried to break down the front door, broke the door frame, and damaged the lock. At the time, other young tourists were inside the apartment and experienced severe stress and fear due to the situation. After the intruders forced their way in, the residents managed to push them back out, block the entrance, and take shelter inside.
When police officers arrived, the suspects continued to hit the door and tried to get inside. The victims reported that the women threatened them with physical violence. Law enforcement documented damage to the door and lock, and also confirmed that the apartment was being rented to tourists for short-term stays.
As a result, both women were detained on suspicion of violating the inviolability of the home and causing property damage. They now face criminal charges under the relevant articles.
This incident once again raises concerns about the safety of rental accommodations at Spain’s popular resorts and how quickly conflicts can escalate between tourists. Police urge visitors to abide by the law and resolve any disputes strictly through legal channels.
