In 2021, two women who worked in Julio Iglesias’ private residences in the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic came forward to share their experiences. Their stories are not just a series of unpleasant incidents, but a whole world where power and fear intertwined with daily routine. One of them, who managed household affairs, recalls how every day began with anxiety: any disagreement with the singer’s demands resulted in humiliation and sometimes even threats. The other, a personal physiotherapist, describes constant pressure and control that extended beyond working hours.
Both women noted that their personal lives were under constant supervision. Their phones were checked, photos were deleted, and any display of independence was seen as a challenge. One admitted that after several months on the job, she fell into a deep depression from which she could not recover on her own. The atmosphere in the house felt more like a prison than a luxury villa.
Control and fear
According to both women, control by Iglesias and his entourage was absolute. They were forbidden from speaking to outsiders, and any attempt to complain or even talk about what was happening was immediately shut down. The house was gripped by an atmosphere of fear: no one knew what might happen if someone dared to say ‘no’.
It was especially difficult when the singer’s wife was away. At such times, according to former employees, Iglesias allowed himself much more. One of the women says the singer repeatedly resorted to physical acts—ranging from intrusive touching to outright slaps. Sometimes she had to care for him when he was in pain, but even then, the care would turn into humiliation.
Sexual harassment
According to the women, the most traumatic experiences were episodes of sexual violence. One of them recalls how the singer demanded sexual favors, threatening her with dismissal and disgrace. The other speaks of frequent attempts to touch her, and of conversations that were far from professional. Both emphasize: there were other young women who were unable to refuse, and the singer did whatever he wanted with them.
The memories of those days still make the women tremble. They say they hesitated for a long time to talk about what happened, fearing the consequences. But keeping silent became impossible—there was too much accumulated pain and fear.
Reaction from those around him
When journalists tried to obtain comments from Iglesias himself and his lawyer, there was no response. Some of those mentioned in the women’s accounts categorically denied the allegations, calling them fiction. However, the former employees insist: everything they have told is true, and they are ready to stand by their statements.
This story once again raises the question of how often darkness and violence lurk behind a façade of luxury and success. It also highlights how difficult it can be for those trapped by someone else’s power to find the strength to speak out.
