A new wave of financial support is being launched in the Valencian Community for families who found themselves in difficult situations after the devastating floods that hit the region at the end of last October. The regional government has decided to allocate €35 million for these measures, significantly increasing the total amount of aid already provided earlier.
This time, the authorities are focusing not only on those directly affected by the disaster, but also on residents of municipalities located in the disaster zone. Among the recipients are large and single-parent families, as well as those raising children with special needs. Separate payments are allocated for them to help offset some of the losses and ease the recovery after the catastrophe.
Special attention is given to tenants: the rental support program has been extended until 2026, and the funding increased by €15 million on top of previously allocated amounts. This will allow current beneficiaries to extend payments for another year, while new applicants can submit documents to participate in the program. Authorities have also provided direct payments for families who foster children — the amount can reach up to €6,000 depending on the number of minors in the family.
Families with children with special needs have not been overlooked. More than 375 such households will receive an additional 2,000 euros. Furthermore, large and single-parent families affected by the disaster will be eligible for extra payments of 1,000 euros, and no paperwork will be required to access this assistance.
The regional government emphasizes that these measures are just part of a broader effort to restore the economy and social sector following the natural disaster. Officials note that they are acting proactively without waiting for decisions from central authorities and intend to continue supporting those affected, despite the region’s challenging financial situation.
