Journalist José María García attended the opening of the Master de MARCA course for students, where he took the opportunity to share his views on pressing issues in Spanish football. His speech sparked a lively response among the audience, as he touched on several contentious topics.
García noted that despite the Madrid club’s position at the top of the league table, their performance raises certain questions for him. According to the expert, the team is winning, but is not showing convincing football. He paid special attention to the role of Kylian Mbappé, who, in his words, has become a key figure, yet this alone is not enough to ensure full confidence in the team’s future. García believes that coach Xabi Alonso needs to reconsider his tactical decisions, particularly in midfield.
Discussing refereeing, García expressed concern about the quality of the officials’ work. He believes there are currently too many referees in Spanish football who use the whistle not as intended, but to boost their own importance. In his view, this negatively affects the overall standard of matches and trust in the results.
At the same time, García did not support the harsh criticism of referees from the Madrid club’s management. He emphasized that this behavior is tied to the personal traits of the president and benefits neither the club nor Spanish football as a whole. According to him, such actions only increase tension around the team and hinder the development of healthy competition.
Garcia also commented separately on the career of the young player Lamine Yamal. He called him a true talent, noting that despite his age, the footballer has already proven himself at a high level. The journalist is confident that Yamal has every chance to become one of the country’s leading players if he continues to work on himself and is not afraid to make mistakes.
Thus, Garcia’s appearance has sparked a discussion about several important aspects of Spanish football: from the quality of refereeing to the prospects of young athletes and the strategic goals of top clubs.
