Basque Country

The Basque Country (Euskadi) is an autonomous community in northeastern Spain, bordering France. The Basque people speak the Basque language (Euskara), which has no linguistic ties to other European languages. The main city, Bilbao, is famous for the Guggenheim Museum and its rich cultural heritage, including the unique Basque culture. Basque cuisine is renowned, especially for dishes such as pintxos and bacalao al pil-pil. The region is known for its mountains, natural landscapes, and beaches. While the political situation in the Basque Country was tense in the past, it has stabilized in recent years following the end of violence by the separatist terrorist group ETA.
