Spain and Portugal are neighbors, exerting significant influence on each other’s economies.
Spain’s key exports to Portugal include chemical products, automobiles, energy equipment, and other industrial goods. A substantial share of Portugal’s imports from Spain consists of paper and cardboard, precious metals, clothing, and equipment.
Portugal is a major exporter of textiles, footwear, ceramics, and wine. Spain is one of Portugal’s main partners for the import and export of food products, wine, chemicals, automobiles, irons, and household appliances. Both countries maintain close cooperation in tourism and investment.
In 2020, Spain and Portugal signed a joint declaration on the need to coordinate efforts in combating climate change, and also agreed on a plan to improve transportation connectivity between the countries.
Bilateral trade between Spain and Portugal is significant. In 2022, trade turnover between the two countries was around 28 billion euros.
