Chinese automaker BYD is preparing for a major debut at the IAA Mobility auto show in Munich, where on September 8 it will unveil the new Seal 6 DM-i hybrid sedan. This model can cover up to 1,505 kilometers on a single tank and charge, making it one of the longest-range hybrids on the European market.
The Seal 6 DM-i features advanced Dual Mode technology, which combines the capabilities of an electric motor and a gasoline engine. As a result, the vehicle demonstrates an impressive range according to the WLTP cycle, which is particularly relevant for European consumers seeking economical and eco-friendly solutions for long journeys.
For the first time, BYD is introducing not only a sedan but also the Seal 6 DM-i Touring wagon to the European market. This expands the brand’s presence in the family car segment, where the Chinese company was previously unrepresented. Both versions are expected to attract buyers who value spaciousness and advanced technology.
At the auto show on Odeonsplatz, visitors will be able to see not only the new model but also other BYD vehicles, including the Seal, Seal U DM-i, Dolphin Surf, Atto 2, and Sealion 7. Test drives will be available for those interested in personally experiencing the dynamics and comfort of the new cars.
The premium brand Denza, part of the BYD group, will also showcase its new D9 minivan and flagship Z9GT sedan at the exhibition. This highlights the company’s ambition to strengthen its position across various segments of the European market.
BYD places special emphasis on innovations in charging technology. At a dedicated area at Königsplatz, the company will showcase an ultra-fast charging system with a capacity of up to 1000 kW. This technology allows an increase in driving range of about 400 kilometers in just five minutes of connection to the charging station, which could be a real breakthrough for electric and hybrid vehicle owners.
Experts note that the launch of the BYD Seal 6 DM-i on the European market could intensify competition among hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as accelerate the shift toward more environmentally friendly modes of transport. The company continues to actively invest in technology development and broadening its model lineup, focusing on sustainable mobility and innovative solutions for European consumers.
Following its presentation in Munich, sales of the new model are expected to begin in a number of European countries, including Spain, where interest in hybrid and electric vehicles is steadily growing. BYD aims to strengthen its market position and attract new customers by combining high autonomy, advanced technology, and attractive design.
