In Spain, a routine visit to an ITV station (Inspección Técnica de Vehículos) turned into quite a shock for the staff. One of the mechanics working at the vehicle inspection center encountered a car whose condition surprised even experienced professionals.
Despite the obvious issues, the vehicle owner still decided to undergo the mandatory inspection. At the initial check, it became clear that the passenger seat was fastened with plastic ties and wires to prevent it from sliding around the cabin. This method of securing the seat puzzled the station staff.
Further examination revealed even more serious deficiencies. The windshield was completely cracked and held in place only by duct tape. The mechanic noted that such a solution not only fails to ensure safety but also violates the operational requirements for vehicles.
The braking system also failed the inspection: the pads were so worn down that metal parts were already rubbing against each other, leaving deep scratches. The final touch was the exhaust pipe, which was barely attached to the chassis with wire.
At an ITV station, specialists carry out a comprehensive inspection. First, they check the documents and identification numbers, then move on to examine the bodywork, windows, and interior. Special attention is given to lighting systems, suspension, brakes, steering, as well as the engine and transmission. Emissions are also analyzed to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
Before visiting the technical inspection station, it is recommended to check the pressure and condition of the tires, as well as to ensure that the airbags are in working order. Don’t forget to inspect the interior and bodywork for sharp edges or other dangerous elements. Performing preventive maintenance at a car service center significantly increases your chances of successfully passing the procedure.
