Temperatures are forecast to fall across Spain on Tuesday 3 November, with Ávila reaching -2C and Segovia -1C. Heavy or persistent downpours are also possible in eastern areas, with the Balearic Islands and the Canaries also at risk.

Maximum temperatures are expected to be 6 to 8C lower than on Monday, with the biggest drops in the north. Aemet forecasts minimum temperatures of -2C in Ávila and -1C in Segovia as colder air moves across the country. Its forecast service covers Spain and its autonomous communities, with information at province and city level, alongside island forecasts, active weather warnings and two-day minimum- and maximum-temperature tables for major municipalities.

The same air mass is expected to bring frost to the main mountain areas in the northern half of the peninsula and nearby high ground. Burgos and Vitoria are forecast to have daytime highs of about 10C.

Aemet spokesperson Rubén del Campo said the eastern peninsula and the Balearic Islands would also see unsettled conditions. An area of high pressure centred over the British Isles is expected to draw easterly winds carrying moist air towards Spain’s eastern third and the islands.

Downpours could be strong or persistent along the eastern and south-eastern coasts, as well as in the Balearics, where thunderstorms are also possible. Rain may spread across the eastern third of the peninsula. Snow is forecast in the Pyrenees and the Iberian System above 1,500 metres. Aemet’s Meteoalerta system provides detailed, updated information on adverse weather affecting Spain for up to 72 hours.

Del Campo warned that parts of the Catalan coast and the Balearics could have a difficult day, with very heavy, persistent showers. He noted that some affected areas had already seen torrential rain this autumn. A separate report on police raids covered developments in Ceuta.

The Canary Islands are also forecast to have very cloudy skies and showers. Rain could be heavy on the mountainous islands, with thunderstorms and locally persistent downpours also possible. Winds are expected to be moderate from the east, then ease and turn north-westerly.

Among provincial capitals, Burgos and León are forecast to reach 0C overnight, as are Salamanca and Soria. Teruel is also expected to reach 0C. Seville is expected to record the highest daytime maximum at 27C, while Santa Cruz de Tenerife is forecast to reach 26C. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is next, at 25C. Aemet’s warning record for the north-western area of A Coruña lists a coastal low-hazard alert for north-easterly winds of 50 to 61 km/h, equivalent to Beaufort force 7, with a probability above 70%. It is valid from 12:00 on 2 November until 07:59 on 3 November 2026.
