A careful vaccination programme and strict checks on animals arriving from outside helped Agrorozas maintain excellent health. The farm used very few antibiotics throughout 2025, according to Ceva Salud Animal. The award rationale also pointed to disease prevention and high sanitary standards, with the farm’s veterinarian and farmer working closely together.
Ceva presented the Porc d’Or One Health award to the farm in Poio, Pontevedra, at the 33rd Porc d’Or de Capa Blanca ceremony. The event took place at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Galicia in Santiago de Compostela on 2 November 2026. It was the first time Galicia hosted the awards. IRTA organised the annual Spanish programme for white-pig farms, with Ceva Salud Animal and INTERPORC as co-organisers. Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food backed the programme.
The 2026 programme evaluated 118 nominations from 89 farms across Spain. More than 650 producers attended the ceremony, La Voz de Galicia reported. Galicia received 11 awards, while Aragón led the overall tally with 13.
The jury singled out the sustained work of the farm’s veterinarian and farmer to improve animal health and welfare. It also pointed to the farm’s biosecurity measures, including careful checks on incoming animals. The One Health category recognises integrated health management, with prevention and biosecurity among its criteria. Animal welfare and responsible antibiotic use also feature in the assessment. The programme weighs technical performance and sustainability, while also looking at continuous improvement.
Ceva Salud Animal also credited the farm’s working environment. It said good employment conditions and ongoing staff training had helped create a positive workplace, benefiting animal health and welfare.
Agrorozas was selected from three nominees. The other finalists were Granja Les Planes de Pinsos Grau S.A. in El Pla de Santa Maria, Tarragona, and Pork Calanda de Piensos Costa in Samper de Calanda, Teruel.
Galician photographer Vari Caramés received Spain’s 2026 National Photography Prize in a separate award covered in RUSSPAIN’s report.
