Amazon has started using 50 Mercedes eActros 600 electric trucks in its German logistics network. This move pushes heavy transport toward zero emissions and deepens the partnership between Amazon and Mercedes-Benz.
Amazon’s German logistics network just got a major upgrade. Fifty Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric trucks are joining the fleet. The first 27 are already on the road. The rest will arrive before the year ends. These trucks are not part of a test run. They will be working full-time on Amazon’s main distribution routes within months.
The eActros 600 stands out for its specs. Each truck carries a 600 kilowatt-hour battery. That gives it a real-world range of 500 kilometers per charge. Mercedes-Benz Trucks built in three lithium-iron-phosphate battery packs per vehicle. Drivers can charge up quickly during required breaks. This setup lets the trucks cover more than 1,000 kilometers in a single workday. That matches what diesel trucks do now.
According to industry sources, the eActros 600's battery is designed for a lifespan of up to 1.2 million kilometers, supporting long-term heavy-duty logistics operations.
Amazon will use these electric trucks for the heavy routes between big logistics hubs and city distribution centers. Smaller vehicles will handle the last stretch to customers. This two-step system is key to Amazon’s plan to cut emissions across Europe.
This rollout in Germany follows a bigger deal between Mercedes-Benz and Amazon. The agreement, signed in 2025, included more than 200 eActros 600 trucks for the UK. Now, with Germany in the mix, both companies are pushing harder to electrify Europe’s busiest freight corridors. Leading German and industry publications have reported that this is a full-scale deployment, not a small pilot. It fits into Amazon’s larger European electrification push.
Amazon is putting over one billion euros into decarbonizing its European transport. Germany alone gets more than 400 million euros for charging stations, new electric trucks, and greener logistics systems. This level of spending shows Amazon wants to lead the shift away from fossil fuels in logistics.
At the IAA 2026, Mercedes-Benz Trucks announced that the eActros 600 will support Megawatt Charging System (MCS) as an option starting in 2027, while the standard charging interface remains CCS. Future MCS solutions are expected to enable charging from 10% to 80% in as little as 30 minutes, further enhancing operational efficiency for long-haul routes.
Production of the eActros 600 started at the Wörth plant in late 2024. Steady deliveries to big European fleets show that electric heavy trucks are now a real part of daily business. Amazon is already using them in Germany and across its European network.
Other truck makers are also moving into electric models. But Amazon’s rollout is bigger and faster. The commercial vehicle sector is changing quickly, with both electric and advanced diesel trucks fighting for market share, as reported earlier by industry sources.
Here’s what matters. Amazon and Mercedes-Benz are not waiting for new rules or incentives. They are acting now. Big investments and operational changes are already in place. This is a turning point for heavy transport in Europe. Zero-emission trucks are no longer a side project. They are a working solution. The eActros 600’s arrival in Amazon’s German fleet is a real step toward cleaner, more efficient logistics. Others will need to catch up. Or get left behind.
