At 5 a.m., when most are still asleep, Cristian Bianchi is already at work. After 59 years as a veterinarian and 37 years as technical advisor at La Gofredina, Bianchi remains a driving force in Argentina’s cattle industry. His focus: breeding Braford cattle that thrive where others fail, and proving that age is no barrier to innovation.
La Gofredina’s story began with a daunting request. Dina María Boglione, the ranch’s owner, tasked Bianchi with sourcing 600 pregnant Braford heifers in just 30 days—a challenge that would shape the ranch’s future. “That was the moment that defined everything,” Bianchi recalls. “It was like finding a diamond and learning how to cut it.”
Turning Adversity Into Opportunity
From that first challenge, Bianchi dedicated his career to developing cattle suited for Argentina’s most difficult grazing lands—fields with saline soils, poor forage, and harsh climates.
