The 38th 080 Barcelona Fashion will return to Marina Vela-Port Vell from 20 to 23 October. Twenty-six shows, public events and a new street programme will bring the event closer to Barcelona audiences.
From 20 to 23 October, Marina Vela-Port Vell will host the 38th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion. The programme will combine runway shows with events open to the public. Organisers also plan to take parts of the event beyond the venue and into Barcelona.
Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda de Catalunya (CCAM) and l’Ajuntament de Barcelona are presenting the event. Marina Vela-Port Vell will host it for the second consecutive edition. The programme refers to 26 shows, while the detailed presentation also gives a total of 25 desfiles.
The runway shows will be staged in Marina Seca, the dry marina area within the Marina Vela complex, giving the event an industrial setting with additional room for parallel activities.
The announced names include Custo Barcelona, Guillermina Baeza, O’Barrick, 404 Studio, Antonio Cuaró, Outsiders Division, David Catalán and Sons of Something. New projects will appear on the calendar for the first time. The fifth edition of 080 Reborn is also scheduled.
The international interest is already clear. Organisers have confirmed more than 17 international media outlets and over 50 content creators linked to the sector. More profiles from the performing and visual arts are expected.
The calendar is full.
PLEC-Barcelona Cultura de Moda will run on 21 and 22 October and broaden the programme with talks, music, performances and podcasts alongside the runway schedule. El País has described the initiative as a new festival focused on fashion culture and the city’s creative scene.
The Open Area will bring together fashion, art, craft, design and new forms of creation. Visitors will find a showroom with around 20 Spanish fashion and accessories brands. Workshops and meetings will run there as well. The format opens the event to the public instead of limiting it to industry professionals.
Barcelona will also launch PLEC-Barcelona Cultura de Moda. L’Ajuntament de Barcelona is promoting the initiative. Its programme will cover image, publishing, music, art, performance and conversation. It will also look at Barcelona’s fashion publishing tradition and current creative work.
EFE and El País report that the festival is intended to give fashion a larger place in Barcelona’s cultural life. The event will not treat fashion only as an industry activity.
On 21 and 22 October, from 18:00 until midnight, the Tinglados del Port Vell will host activities focused on Barcelona’s fashion culture. The initiative follows the same cultural logic seen in the Goya example, where a major industry event is paired with public activities beyond its central ceremony.
A second PLEC action will take the shows onto Barcelona’s streets. During 080 Barcelona Fashion, a trailer equipped with a screen will carry the runway presentations to different parts of the city. People will be able to watch and share the event outside Marina Vela-Port Vell.
The setting is only part of the change. The programme also treats access as part of the event. International guests, established brands, emerging projects and the parallel cultural schedule will put fashion in front of a wider public. That gives Barcelona a visible role in 080 Barcelona Fashion.
