The Club de los 60 is preparing its next travel program for seniors in Castilla y León, aiming to promote active aging and social participation. Agencies can submit proposals for the 2027 campaign until July 7, 2026.
Travel opportunities for seniors in Castilla y León are set to expand as the Club de los 60 opens its call for the 2027 travel campaign. The regional government has announced that travel agencies and tour operators can submit their destination proposals from June 23 to July 7, 2026, marking a key step in organizing one of the region’s most established programs for older adults.
The initiative, managed by the Gerencia de Servicios Sociales, is designed to encourage leisure, social engagement, and healthy aging among residents aged 60 and above. Participation is open to members of the Club de los 60 who meet specific health and autonomy requirements. Applicants must not have active infectious diseases or mental health conditions that could disrupt group travel, and they must be able to manage daily activities independently to ensure smooth participation in excursions.
For international trips, especially to countries with healthcare agreements with Spain, participants are advised to carry the European Health Insurance Card. The program also requires that travelers maintain behavior compatible with group activities and have a health status suitable for the chosen destination.
How the Application Process Works
The current application window is intended for travel agencies and tour operators, not for individual travelers. Agencies interested in organizing trips for the Club de los 60 must submit their proposals for both spring-summer and Christmas campaigns, including detailed economic and technical documentation. The accreditation process for travel agencies wishing to inform and book trips for the Club runs from June 23 to June 29, 2026. After this initial phase, a second ten-day period will allow agencies to provide additional required documents, with all offers evaluated according to criteria set by the Gerencia de Servicios Sociales.
Travel Options and Eligibility
The Club de los 60 offers three main travel categories. The General Program features national and international trips in spring and autumn, typically lasting 8 to 10 days for long-haul destinations. The Viajes para Todos option is tailored for participants with disabilities or special support needs, with trips lasting 7 days. The Christmas Program, Luces y Mercadillos, includes both international and one national destination, with a duration of 5 days.
Members can travel with another Club member or an adult companion, who must be at least 18 years old and registered in any municipality of Castilla y León. Companions are recognized as Friends of the Club de los 60, ensuring broader access to the program.
Broader Context and Cultural Impact
The Club de los 60’s travel initiative is part of a wider movement in Castilla y León to support active aging and social inclusion. By offering structured travel opportunities, the program not only enriches the lives of older residents but also strengthens community ties and local tourism. This approach echoes other regional efforts to revitalize cultural spaces and promote engagement, such as the recent transformation of the historic Pedraza Castle into a year-round arts venue, as highlighted in this report on cultural renewal in Segovia.
With the application process now underway, travel agencies and organizers have a unique opportunity to shape the next chapter of senior travel in Castilla y León, reinforcing the region’s commitment to quality of life and social participation for its older citizens.
