Spain's doctors have postponed their indefinite strike. The election has halted the current negotiating route, but the dispute remains active.
The planned strike was due to start on 28 October. Doctors have now postponed it, but they have not dropped their campaign. Pedro Sánchez called general elections for 29 November 2026, which ended the current route for negotiations. The next Government will face the same dispute. The OMC called the delay reasonable and said the medical profession must stay alert.
The Committee of Strike has kept the strike call in force. CESM, the Sindicato Médico Andaluz, or SMA, and the Sindicato Médico de Euskadi, or SME, say the stoppages can return if the next Government refuses to address the profession's demands.
