A man of about 40 died after his car struck a bridge parapet on the N-620 near La Fuente de San Esteban on Saturday morning. The death brings Salamanca province’s road toll for 2026 to 16.

Several callers alerted Castilla y León’s 112 emergency centre at 8.16am on Saturday, 7 November, after a car crashed at kilometre 284 of the N-620, just past Aldehuela de la Bóveda towards La Fuente de San Esteban. The driver, a man aged about 40, was reported unconscious and trapped inside the vehicle. The car hit a bridge parapet; Salamanca24Horas also reported that it overturned.

Emergency personnel confirmed the driver had died at the scene. Investigators have not established the cause of the crash. Guardia Civil traffic officers are looking into it.

Guardia Civil traffic officers went to the scene, along with firefighters from Salamanca Provincial Council. Sacyl sent a medical helicopter and a mobile intensive-care unit. A basic life-support ambulance and a medical team from La Fuente de San Esteban also responded. The driver was pronounced dead at the crash site.

The death takes Salamanca province’s road toll for 2026 to 16. It is the second fatal road crash in three days, after Thursday’s collision on the A-66 near Pizarral. The earlier Urda rail crash report concerned a separate railway incident and is unrelated to this road toll.

The Pizarral crash happened at about 8.40pm on 5 November at kilometre 384 of the A-66, on the carriageway towards Cáceres. Two cars were involved, and both overturned with occupants trapped inside. A man aged about 60 died. He was a lawyer for the Administration of Justice at the courts in Béjar. According to the source material, a woman aged about 20 was driving against the flow of traffic for at least five kilometres before the two cars collided. She was injured and taken to Salamanca Hospital.

The Guardia Civil investigation into the A-66 crash remains open. Investigators are also examining the circumstances of Saturday’s collision.
