Henry Méndez opened the Partido Popular Europeo’s Madrid event in late March 2023 with ‘El tiburón’. As performers danced on stage, the camera turned to politicians standing near the front rows.
Alberto Núñez Feijóo was among them. He swayed slightly, tried to keep time with his feet and slapped his thighs. Isabel Díaz Ayuso and other PP figures moved more visibly. José Luis Martínez-Almeida clapped and pointed towards the dancers.
The footage matters because Feijóo later said he does not dance at rallies. In October 2026, at a presentation of the PP’s Madrid candidate, he said he does not dance at rallies. He also said he does not sing there or kiss his partner there, contrasting himself with Pedro Sánchez. El Mundo reported Feijóo’s assertion that he neither stole nor lied, alongside his criticism of Sánchez. The video supports a narrow contradiction: it shows him moving to the music.
The setting matters. The footage comes from a Partido Popular Europeo event, not a rally identified as such in the account. It shows Feijóo dancing at a political event; it does not establish what he does at rallies.
The event, held under the slogan ‘Europa es Hispana’, aimed to attract votes from Madrid’s Latino community ahead of municipal elections. Spain’s municipal electoral structure also allows citizens of other EU countries and nationals of countries covered by a reciprocity agreement to vote, provided they meet the related to the topic residency and registration conditions. Article 176 of the Organic Law on the General Electoral Regime provides for their inclusion in the municipal electoral roll. The PP’s campaign messaging on voting has also drawn attention, including its position on postal voting in this earlier report.
In the clip, Feijóo keeps time with his feet and pats his thighs as ‘El tiburón’ plays.
