At about 1.45pm on Sunday, 1 November, a car left the ZA-P-2314, the provincial road between Malva and Cerecinos del Carrizal in Zamora, and hit a concrete drainage culvert. All four occupants died. The crash occurred at around kilometre 16, with one report placing it at kilometre 16.3.
The victims were a 59-year-old man, a 29-year-old woman and two children aged three and two. They were members of the same family: a grandfather, his daughter and her children. EFE-based reporting identified the man as the car’s owner and driver.
The crash happened on a straight section of road. For reasons that remain unknown, the vehicle left the carriageway on the right and struck the culvert, a concrete drainage structure beside the road. The occupants were trapped inside, and rescue teams freed them.
The family lived in Aspariegos, where they had moved in March. The woman and both children were from Seville. Aspariegos mayor Isabel de Prada said the family had developed good relations with neighbours and had been fully integrated since arriving.
Guardia Civil traffic officers, firefighters from Toro and medical teams from Castilla y León attended. The emergency response included a medical helicopter, a basic life-support ambulance, an advanced emergency unit and primary-care personnel from Toro. Medics confirmed the deaths at the scene. Castilla y León president Alfonso Fernández Mañueco expressed his condolences on X, formerly Twitter. He said he was moved by the news and sent his affection and support to the family and loved ones.
