One person died and another was seriously injured in an explosion at a fuel storage facility in the Salinetas industrial area of Telde, Gran Canaria. The incident occurred around midday on August 5, prompting a rapid deployment of emergency teams. Policía Nacional sources said a third person, initially reported missing, was believed to be safe.
The blast prompted a large-scale response involving multiple ambulances from the Servicio de Urgencias Canario. Firefighters from the Consorcio de Emergencias de Gran Canaria joined officers from Policía Nacional, with Policía Local and Protección Civil also responding. The Centro Coordinador de Emergencias y Seguridad (Cecoes) coordinated the response and secured the area.
The critically injured individual was receiving medical care, while teams worked at the scene and at local hospitals.
