For generations of families in Fayetteville, Georgia, Fun Spot America Atlanta was a local landmark. It closed on August 2, 2026, ending a 36-year run as one of the Atlanta area’s best-known amusement parks.
Originally opened in 1990 as Dixieland Fun Park, the site expanded its attractions over the years and became a staple of local entertainment. Fun Spot America, a Florida-based chain, acquired it in 2017 and invested in new rides. In 2023, the company introduced the steel roller coaster ArieForce One, which drew coaster enthusiasts from across the region.
The company did not disclose a specific reason for the closure. CEO John Arie Jr. called the decision “extremely difficult” and thanked the Atlanta team and the Fayetteville community for their longstanding support. The park kept its regular schedule, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., through its final day. Management also committed to working with staff during the transition and providing resources and support as operations wound down.
What Visitors Need to Know
Season passes and gift cards remained valid at the Atlanta park through August 2, 2026. After the closure, guests could use them at Fun Spot America’s other locations in Orlando and Kissimmee, Florida. The company also said it would contact customers with group bookings or school trips scheduled beyond the closing date, as well as customers with other events, to resolve outstanding commitments.
The park was known for its roller coasters and go-kart tracks; it also had a bungee jump tower introduced in 1992, billed as the only legal installation of its kind in Georgia. ArieForce One’s future changed after the park closed: Six Flags acquired the coaster in September 2026. Fox Business reported the acquisition as a September 9 announcement, while the trade publication Carnival Warehouse later described Six Flags as “saving” the ride after the Atlanta park’s closure.
The acquisition gives ArieForce One a future beyond the Fayetteville site, but does not establish where or when the coaster will operate again. The closure also left the site’s future and the fate of its other rides unresolved.
Orlando and Kissimmee Remain Open
Only the Fayetteville location closed. Fun Spot America’s parks in Orlando and Kissimmee continued operating, the company said.
