Iberia will introduce new names and weight limits for hand luggage starting June 23. The changes affect all fare types and aim to clarify what is included in each ticket. The update will be visible on the airline’s website and app.

Iberia is set to implement significant changes to its hand luggage policy from June 23, affecting all passengers booking flights with the airline. The company will introduce new terminology and adjust the way hand baggage options are presented, aiming to make the booking process more transparent and efficient for travelers. These updates will be especially noticeable when purchasing tickets through Iberia’s official website and mobile application.

According to a communication sent to travel agencies and reported by Preferente, the current 'personal accessory' will be renamed 'personal hand luggage.' Meanwhile, what was previously called 'cabin baggage' will now be split into two categories: up to 10 kg for economy and premium economy cabins, and up to 14 kg for business class. Iberia states that these changes are designed to provide greater clarity about what is included in each fare, reducing confusion for customers at the time of booking.

The airline emphasizes that the new baggage terms and weight limits will be clearly displayed during the reservation process on its direct sales channels. This move is part of a broader strategy to streamline information and improve the overall customer experience, particularly as travelers increasingly rely on digital platforms to manage their journeys.

For context, hand luggage policies have become a key point of differentiation among airlines operating in Spain and across Europe. Many carriers have tightened restrictions or introduced additional fees for cabin baggage in recent years, prompting passengers to pay closer attention to what is included in their ticket. Iberia’s update follows this trend, but focuses on renaming and clarifying existing allowances rather than introducing new charges. The changes are expected to help passengers better understand their options and avoid surprises at the airport.
