On June 9, Seville launched a new wave of the municipal 'Bono Sevilla' program, which for the first time allows residents to save on food and essential goods. City authorities have expanded the list of locations where vouchers can be used: now supermarkets under well-known franchises have joined the initiative, making the program significantly more accessible to various neighborhoods.
Unlike previous years, when vouchers were mainly valid in clothing and accessory stores, this time the discounts apply to groceries, fresh vegetables, fruit, and household products. This measure is especially relevant for families and the elderly, who spend a significant part of their budget on daily necessities. The subsidy covers part of the cost — the difference between the nominal voucher value and its real cost is reimbursed by the municipality.
Participating stores include Carrefour Express (Calle Puente y Pellón, 21), Covirán San Luis (Calle San Luis, 102, Local B), Covirán Los Santos (Calle Bollullos, 35), Suma Luis Montoto 132 (Calle Luis Montoto, 132), Suma San Benito (Calle Luis Montoto, 46), Suma Virgen de Luján (Calle Virgen de Luján, 45), and Supermercados Dia (Calle Arroyo, 70, Accesos A and C). The program covers both central and residential districts, including Casco Antiguo, Nervión, Los Remedios, and Macarena.
Each voucher is sold for 15 euros but entitles the holder to purchases worth 25 euros. An individual may obtain up to five vouchers if they are over 18 and registered in Seville. Thus, by spending 75 euros, a buyer can spend 125 euros at participating stores. To use a voucher, the receipt must be no less than the voucher's face value — 25 euros for one, 50 euros for two, and so on. No change is given and unused amounts are not carried over, so it's important to plan your purchases in advance.
The program is available for a limited time: vouchers can be used until July 11. According to RUSSPAIN, this is one of the most significant support measures for urban families at the start of summer, when food expenses traditionally rise. Importantly, the program is aimed at supporting local businesses and encourages purchases specifically in neighborhood stores.
