The incident at Sol
Cano had reported from the camp on previous days. During the latest broadcast, he was describing what was happening near one of the square’s fountains when a man approached, blocked his work and heckled him. The shove sent Cano towards the water. Footage published by Cuatro showed him keeping his balance at the edge of the fountain. He tried to move away and continue the live report, but the situation worsened.
From the studio, Jiménez urged Cano to move away from the man and get to safety. He also told him to alert nearby officers. Cano later said the man had been threatening and insulting the team for some time. He said people came out of the tents and made the crew leave. Some pushed them; others asked them to go without pushing. Cano’s account focused on one man and did not blame the camp as a whole.
Cano described the rest of the camp as fairly calm.
Cuatro reported that the crew filed a complaint and Cano gave police a recording of the incident. He said he understood that the man had been identified. The team stopped filming at that location after the confrontation.
