The last known location of Wilmar Andrés R. C.’s mobile phone led search teams to the coast near Portals Vells, in Calvià. GEAS divers found his body submerged there on Tuesday, 3 November, after the search began that morning.
The Civil Guard said it was notified at around 14:00 that a man had been found wearing clothes matching those described for the missing 25-year-old. Divers recovered the body from the water. His identity was confirmed shortly afterwards, according to sources cited by Diario de Mallorca.
After the recovery, the body was taken by boat to the pier at Portals Vells, then transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine. An autopsy is due to establish the cause and circumstances of death. The Civil Guard’s Judicial Police is investigating.
Local media reported that an accident was one of the hypotheses, but the investigation has not established how Wilmar Andrés R. C. entered the water or died.
His disappearance was reported after he was last seen on Monday, 2 November, in the Sol de Mallorca urbanisation, in the municipality of Calvià. SOS Desaparecidos issued a public alert seeking help to find him. The alert described him as approximately 1.70 metres tall, athletically built, with dark hair and black eyes.
The search involved the Civil Guard, Calvià Local Police, Bombers de Mallorca and Civil Protection volunteers. A Civil Guard helicopter, boats and GEAS divers searched the coastline and surrounding waters, focusing on Portals Vells and nearby El Mago.
