The BOE calendar sets All Saints’ Day on 1 November, which fell on a Sunday in 2026. Autonomous communities could decide whether to move the day off, and nine shifted it to Monday 2 November. In Madrid, the City Council arranged extended opening hours at municipal cemeteries through Monday 2 November as part of the holiday period.
The regions observing the holiday today are Andalucía and Aragón; Asturias and Canarias; Castilla y León and Castilla-La Mancha; Extremadura and Madrid; and Navarra.
Cantabria and Cataluña kept the holiday on 1 November, as did Comunidad Valenciana and Galicia. The same applies to Islas Baleares and La Rioja, Murcia and País Vasco, as well as Ceuta and Melilla. The communities set their own calendars for national holidays that fall on a Sunday, within a limit of 14 annual holidays covering national, autonomous-community and local dates.
Madrid city has a separate holiday scheduled for Monday 9 November for Día de Nuestra Señora de la Almudena, patron of the city alongside San Isidro. It applies in the capital, not across the whole Community of Madrid. For Todos los Santos, the four largest municipal cemeteries, Nuestra Señora de la Almudena, Civil, Hebreo and Sur-Carabanchel, were scheduled to open from 8:00 to 18:30 through 2 November. Other municipal cemeteries, including Fuencarral, El Pardo, Vallecas, Canillas and Aravaca, normally open from 10:00 to 17:00 and opened two hours earlier on Sunday 1 November.
The city’s arrangements also involved Policía Municipal de Madrid, SAMUR-Protección Civil, EMT Madrid and Servicios Funerarios de Madrid. EMT planned cemetery-route reinforcement from 24 October to 2 November, with up to 14 additional buses on the morning of Sunday 1 November: nine on conventional routes and five on special services. Lines 106, 110 and 113 served the Almudena cemetery, while special routes linked Plaza Elíptica with Cementerio Sur and Plaza de Castilla with Cementerio de Fuencarral. Madrid’s cultural programme for 28 October to 2 November included free guided visits at the Cementerio de la Almudena.
