Seville’s ‘Tus Kilómetros Nos Dan Vida’ returns to Parque del Alamillo on Sunday 25 October. All 6,000 places sold out in record time, with proceeds supporting research into childhood cancer.

Since 2013, ‘Tus Kilómetros Nos Dan Vida’ has raised more than €1.2 million for childhood cancer research and care. Paediatric oncology professionals at Hospital Infantil Virgen del Rocío and families of children receiving treatment created the event. Its 14th edition brings 6,000 runners to Parque del Alamillo in Seville on Sunday 25 October, after all available places sold out. Muchodeporte reports that the initiative has raised €1,213,137 and involved more than 54,500 runners over its history; the 2025 edition raised around €175,000.

The programme gets underway at 10:30 with five children’s races for ages four to 13: 100 metres for ages four and five, 200 metres for six and seven, 300 metres for eight and nine, 500 metres for 10 and 11, and 1,000 metres for 12 and 13. The adult race, open to participants aged 14 and over, is scheduled for 12:00 and covers 5.2 kilometres. There is no time limit for reaching the finish.

Families and other visitors can join the day’s activities, including live performances, a charity shop and tombola, plus a charity refreshments service. Those who cannot run or did not secure a place can support the research through Dorsal 0, a direct donation option. esRadio Sevilla reported that the 6,000 race places had sold out about a month before the event; Dorsal 0 offers another way to contribute.

Professionals from the Oncología Pediátrica team at Hospital Infantil Virgen del Rocío and families of children receiving treatment launched the race. Funds go through Fundación SEHOP to support research and improve care for children and adolescents with cancer. Europa Press reported that the funding supports clinical trials, the national Tus Kilómetros Nos Dan Vida research scholarship, the Registro Español de Tumores Infantiles (RETI) and research into paediatric tumours.

Supported work includes clinical trials and the Beca Nacional de Investigación ‘Tus Kilómetros Nos Dan Vida’. Funding also goes to RETI, research into paediatric tumours including brain and kidney tumours and osteosarcoma, and programmes in music therapy and physical activity for young patients. Seville’s Sports delegate, María Tena, took part in the presentation and praised the organisers, led by doctor Rosa Cabello, for keeping the event going across 14 editions.

Donations and further information are available on the official website, www.tuskilometrosnosdanvida.org.
