Spain expects 1.6 million tonnes of olive oil in 2026/27, 23% more than in the previous campaign. Spring weather helped the crop, but summer heat still threatens yields in dryland groves.
Agriculture Minister Luis Planas presented Spain's preliminary olive oil forecast in Jaén as the new campaign began on October 1. The estimate stands at 1,602,596 tonnes, 23% above the previous campaign. Officials place it in the medium-high range.
The figure came from official presentations in Madrid and Andalucía. It is not final. The main question now is how olives respond to the summer heat.
Andalucía will produce most of the crop. Its estimate is 1,261,200 tonnes, up 29% and equal to 79% of Spain's total. Jaén alone could reach 575,000 tonnes, or 36% of national production. Europa Press and Andalusian authorities reported the regional figures.
The recovery is heavily concentrated.
