José Antonio Maldonado expects largely stable weather across Spain over the All Saints bridge, with possible heavy showers around the Mediterranean and north of the Canary Islands. Maximum temperatures could fall by up to 3 or 4 degrees in some provinces.

Seville reached 29 or 30 degrees this week, while Badajoz recorded slightly lower readings. Temperatures across much of Spain have been above seasonal norms, but José Antonio Maldonado expects a cooler weekend and largely settled conditions over the All Saints bridge, which begins on Friday, 30 October. AEMET spokesperson Rubén del Campo also forecast broadly stable weather for most of the country, with temperatures in Andalucía and the southwest potentially reaching 30 degrees.

The main exception could be the Mediterranean. Maldonado told 'Herrera en COPE' that the anticyclone's movement may draw humid air into the region on Saturday, bringing heavy and persistent showers in some areas. AEMET also identified the Mediterranean coast and the Balearic Islands as the main unsettled areas: showers were expected particularly in the early hours of All Saints’ Day, 1 November, easing later, while locally strong or stormy rain remained possible in the islands. The north of the Canary Islands could also see strong showers.

Maximum temperatures are forecast to fall generally. Soria and Salamanca could each see a drop of 3 or 4 degrees. Vitoria could see a similar decrease. Frost is expected on the Pyrenean peaks. Much of Andalusia, by contrast, could still reach more than 25 degrees. The AEMET outlook put Seville at around 28-30 degrees, compared with a maximum of 18 in Madrid and 13 to 14 in Pamplona; Salamanca could have a morning close to freezing, with frost also possible in northern and mountainous areas.

Friday's forecast calls for high pressure and mostly clear skies across much of the country. Cloud and light rain are possible in Catalonia and the Valencian Community, while the Balearic Islands face a risk of locally strong thunderstorms. Morning fog is forecast in Galicia and the Cantabrian regions, as well as in Ceuta and Melilla; it may also form near the Ebro estuary. Strong easterly winds are expected around the Strait of Gibraltar.

Sunday should remain mostly clear across much of the mainland and the Balearic Islands. Light rain could affect Catalonia and the Valencian Community, with heavier, stormy showers possible in the islands. Maldonado expects Monday to bring a similar pattern, with stability across nearly all of Spain.

The forecast becomes less settled on Tuesday. Conditions may stabilise somewhat in the south and eastern half of the country, while passing rain could begin elsewhere on the peninsula. AEMET’s subsequent outlook also pointed to a small DANA that could intensify Mediterranean rainfall during the following week, with rain potentially extending to the east and centre, as well as the north, and snow possible at high mountain elevations. Maldonado said more widespread rain was not expected until around 9 November.

In the interview, Maldonado also said high temperatures had occurred in previous years, sometimes lasting close to Christmas, before conditions changed sharply. He recalled similar weather the previous year and said people often have a poor memory of past weather.

The conversation later turned to travel delays. Carlos Herrera described a recent three-hour delay on an Air Europa flight; Maldonado said one of his daughters had waited four hours for an AVE Madrid-Sevilla service. The rail anecdote was separate from the forecast and from coverage of the Urda crash. The holiday period also brought a major road operation: the Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) began its special deployment at 15:00 on Friday, 30 October, forecasting 5,340,000 long-distance journeys. The DGT expected the heaviest outbound congestion from 16:00 to 22:00 on Friday. In eight autonomous communities: Andalucía, Aragón, Asturias, Canarias, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Extremadura and Madrid, the operation was scheduled to continue until midnight on Monday, 2 November.
