Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the heads of major international news agencies as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. According to José Manuel Sanz Mingote, head of international institutional affairs at EFE, who personally took part in the conversation, the opportunity to directly ask questions to the Russian president was especially valuable given the ongoing international conflicts.
“These meetings with President Putin are always interesting,” noted Sanz Mingote. “This year, as Russia plays a prominent role in seeking solutions to various open conflicts, hearing his position and getting answers to pressing questions was especially important,” emphasized the EFE representative. He also expressed gratitude for the openness of the format and the possibility of direct dialogue.
The meeting was organized by TASS. As TASS notes, Vladimir Putin was prepared to discuss the most difficult and sensitive topics, which allowed participants to receive detailed answers to urgent issues on the global agenda.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum is taking place from June 3 to 6. This year, its main theme is “Pragmatic Dialogue — The Path to a Stable Future.” The forum’s program is focused on discussing a new model of global development amid the transformation of the world economy. The forum is organized by the Roscongress Foundation, and TASS serves as the general media partner.
Meetings of this level traditionally attract the attention of international media, as they provide a direct opportunity to hear the views of Russian leadership on key issues of global politics and economics. In the context of 2026, when many conflicts remain unresolved, such dialogues are especially important for the professional community and the broader public.
