Citroën C5 Aircross Hybrid: A New Standard of Comfort Among Hybrid SUVs. The Citroën C5 Aircross Hybrid features a refreshed design, a technologically advanced interior, and retains its unique suspension system. This model targets those who seek maximum comfort but are not yet ready to switch to plug-in electric vehicles.

Citroën has unveiled the updated C5 Aircross Hybrid, focusing on comfort and practicality—qualities that allowed the previous generation to sell over 560,000 units worldwide. The French manufacturer did not radically change the winning formula: the recognizable design, spacious interior, and signature smooth suspension remain at the forefront.

Externally, the new C5 Aircross Hybrid inherits many features from the concept, including distinctive taillights with aerodynamic elements and large alloy wheels up to 20 inches in diameter—a record for Citroën. The front lighting can now be matrix-type, and the cabin features a vertical 13-inch multimedia display with fast response and sharp graphics.

Inside, the car has become noticeably more high-tech, but the quality of materials raises questions: despite its modern appearance, most surfaces are made from hard plastic. Nevertheless, ergonomics and driving position remain excellent, and the Advance Comfort seats with an increased foam layer provide a truly high level of comfort, especially in the fabric version.

The rear row has lost its previous modularity: it is no longer possible to slide the seats forward or backward or use three independent chairs. However, leg and headroom are still impressive, and the backrests are adjustable for angle. The luggage compartment holds 565 liters—slightly less than the previous generation, but still sufficient for family trips.

Technically, the C5 Aircross Hybrid is designed for those who want the benefits of hybrid technology without the need to charge the car from a socket. The powertrain produces 145 hp, and the 29-hp electric motor assists during start-up and at low speeds, working in tandem with the automatic transmission. The 0.89 kWh battery does not require charging from the grid, making this model convenient for urban environments.

The main advantage is the suspension with progressive hydraulic cushions, which effectively smooths out road irregularities and creates a 'magic carpet' feel. The trade-off is a slight body roll in corners, while the steering feels too light for dynamic driving.

The base price of the Citroën C5 Aircross Hybrid starts at €28,790, including a rich set of features. By comparison, other European brands in this segment often offer less comfortable solutions for similar money. Incidentally, the trend of delaying the release of new models in the hybrid and electric vehicle market is not limited to Citroën: for example, Volkswagen recently postponed the launch of the electric Golf, which is covered in detail in the article on the delayed release of the new Golf.

The Citroën C5 Aircross Hybrid remains one of the few SUVs where comfort and ease of use are prioritized over technological experimentation. For those who value a smooth ride and are unwilling to compromise in everyday life, this offer is especially relevant.
