Tres Cantos is awarding grants of up to €300 for residents who purchase new electric scooters or pedal-assist bicycles. The application window remains open until June 30, 2026, with funds distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Residents of Tres Cantos who have recently invested in a new electric scooter or pedal-assist bicycle have a limited window to claim municipal grants of up to €300. The local government is actively encouraging sustainable transport by offering financial support for those choosing certified electric vehicles for personal mobility.

The initiative targets adults registered in Tres Cantos who have purchased a qualifying vehicle between June 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026. Eligible vehicles include electric scooters certified by the Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT) and bicycles equipped with electric pedal assistance. Second-hand vehicles, competition models, and devices such as electric unicycles, hoverboards, skateboards, and segways are excluded from the program.

Who Can Apply

Applicants must be of legal age, officially registered in Tres Cantos, and remain on the municipal register until the end of the application period. They must also be up to date with tax and social security obligations, free of outstanding debts to the local council, and not subject to restrictions under Spain’s General Subsidies Law.

Grant Amounts and Conditions

The grant provides €100 for certified electric scooters and €300 for electric bicycles with pedal assistance. Applications are processed in the order they are received, and the total municipal budget for this program is capped at €14,900. Once funds are exhausted, no further grants will be awarded.

To qualify, the purchase invoice must be dated within the specified period. The grant cannot be combined with other public subsidies for the same vehicle and purpose. Only one grant per vehicle is permitted, and applicants must not have received other aid for the same purchase.

How to Apply

All applications must be submitted online via the official electronic portal of the Ayuntamiento de Tres Cantos. A digital certificate or PIN 24 horas is required to access the system. Applicants need to provide the full invoice in their name and proof of payment, which may include bank transfers, card statements, or financing contracts. For cash payments, the invoice must be stamped by the retailer, and cash transactions over €1,000 are not accepted.

The council will verify residency and check for any outstanding debts or previous subsidy issues. The process is designed to be straightforward, but applicants should ensure all documentation is complete to avoid delays.

As Spanish cities continue to promote greener transport options, local initiatives like this one in Tres Cantos reflect a broader shift toward sustainable urban mobility. Municipal support can make a tangible difference for residents considering the switch to electric vehicles, especially as regulations and incentives evolve across the country.
