Police detained one person after gunfire at a home on Calle Los Afligidos in Los Realejos, Tenerife. Two people were injured shortly after 12:00 on 5 November in the La Montaña district. Radio Televisión Canaria (RTVC) also placed the incident in the La Zamora area.
According to initial information, three people entered the home, where someone inside defended themselves with a firearm. At least one person involved has an extensive criminal record linked to large-scale drug trafficking. Police are treating this account as an initial investigative hypothesis while they establish what happened.
An ambulance from the Servicio de Urgencias Canario (SUC) took one injured person to hospital with a gunshot wound to the knee. The other was treated for a cut. RTVC reported that the second person had suffered a knife injury. Both injured people were taken to hospital. Televisión Canaria reported a large Policía Nacional operation in the area. Policía Científica and Policía Judicial secured the scene and began collecting evidence.
The Tenerife incident is separate from a case in San Sebastián where two people were detained over alleged criminal-group links, detailed in this earlier report.
Police said two people were still unaccounted for and search operations were under way to locate them. Investigators continued their work inside the cordon around the home.
