With the end of the summer season, Europe’s monarchs are returning to their official duties. Princess Marie of Denmark has resumed her working visits, appearing at an event at the Danish Emergency Management Agency in Birkerød. For her first appearance, she chose an outfit from a renowned Spanish brand, once again affirming the popularity of Spanish fashion among royals.
The spotlight was on an elegant black-and-white polka dot dress from Mango. This straight-cut, midi-length dress features a shirt-style collar, short sleeves, and a belt accentuating the waist, and is part of the brand’s special occasion collection. The outfit became a true hit during the summer sales: its price was reduced by more than 60%, from 59.99 to 22.99 euros, resulting in the dress being completely sold out in the brand’s online store.
Princess Marie completed her look with carefully chosen accessories. She wore classic black block-heeled shoes by Miu Miu, which have been part of her wardrobe since 2008, and the iconic Knot clutch from Bottega Veneta. Her jewelry included a zircon bracelet by Roxanne Assoulin, another bracelet by Dodo with star and moon charms, as well as a Rolex watch.
The Danish princess’s choice is not an isolated case. Spanish fashion has long been popular among members of European monarchies. Style icons such as Queen Máxima of the Netherlands and Belgian Crown Princess Elisabeth have also repeatedly opted for Spanish designers for their public appearances, demonstrating a commitment to quality and current trends.
Princess Marie’s fashion choice drew comparisons to the style of Spain’s Queen Letizia. It’s not just that the Spanish queen owns the exact same Bottega Veneta clutch, but also her fondness for polka dot dresses. Queen Letizia’s wardrobe features similar pieces, such as a halter-neck dress by CH Carolina Herrera and an ensemble with voluminous sleeves by Emporio Armani, indicating similar fashion preferences between the two royals.
