One of Spain’s most influential financial dynasties, the Botín family, is preparing for another lavish celebration. Uberto Botín-Sanz de Sautuola d’Ornano, grandson of the legendary banker Emilio Botín, has announced his engagement. His chosen bride is doctor Andreina Culebras.
The official proposal took place as a private family event at the historic Puente San Miguel estate. This country house in Cantabria traditionally serves as the setting for the clan’s most important occasions. Guests were treated to an exquisite dinner featuring cuttlefish meatballs, salt-crusted trout, and rice with shellfish. For dessert, chocolate soufflé was served along with two types of cheesecake, including the traditional Cantabrian quesada.
Uberto Botín is the son of Emilio Botín O’Shea and the French aristocrat Élisabeth d’Ornano. He was educated at the American School of Madrid, the Les Roches international hospitality management school in Marbella, and the IE Business School. He currently works in private banking at the Swiss firm Pictet Group. His future wife, Andreina Culebras, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Universidad de Navarra, speaks three languages, and works as a resident physician in the urology department at the Lausanne University Hospital Center.
The wedding itself is expected to take place in 2026. The most likely venue for the ceremony is once again the Puente San Miguel estate, located in the municipality of Reocín. This estate, recognized as a Bien de Interés Cultural (Site of Cultural Interest), is renowned for its magnificent gardens. American sequoias, horse chestnuts, Lebanese cedars, and a eucalyptus tree planted back in 1867 grow on its grounds. Decorative sculptures and bridges create a unique atmosphere for hosting celebrations.
This engagement continues the series of weddings in the Botín family. Just last year, the clan celebrated three marriages, including the weddings of Emilio Botín and Victoria Hermosilla, as well as Carmen Ballesteros Botín and Juan Diego García.
