Seven-time MotoGP world champion and current Ducati rider Marc Márquez, a native of Cervera, recently shared details about his attitude toward his personal car collection. Speaking on a popular podcast, the athlete explained why he decided to part ways with one of the most notable cars in his garage.
Márquez admitted that he owned a Porsche Turbo S, but hardly ever used the car. According to him, he felt uncomfortable driving such a flashy and expensive vehicle, so he chose to sell it despite its appeal and technical features.
In the conversation with the show’s host, when asked about how many cars he had purchased, the racer noted that he had bought only two cars in his entire life. The first car he bought was sold after just four thousand kilometers. The decision to sell was due to personal feelings and a lack of need for such a vehicle.
After selling the Porsche Turbo S, Márquez bought an Audi RS6, but that car also did not stay with him for long. As the athlete clarified, he parted with the Audi right before the podcast was recorded. As a result, both cars he bought over the course of his career were sold after a short time.
The racer emphasized that he is not particularly interested in collecting expensive cars. Instead, he prefers to invest in vehicles necessary for training and his professional activities. According to him, most of his expenses are related to the purchase of vans and motorcycles for competition preparation.
At the end of the conversation, Márquez touched on the topic of travel. He noted that since he has had a steady partner, he has started leaving his hometown more often. Recalling a trip to Ibiza, the athlete shared a story about how, while vacationing with friends, he encountered an unpleasant situation. Despite his financial capabilities, he stressed that he values simple interactions and enjoys his time both in Cervera and other cities in Spain equally.
