Spain’s aristocratic circles are once again abuzz with anticipation for a lavish celebration, barely having recovered from the recent wedding of Cayetano Martínez de Irujo. This time, all eyes are on the Palazuelo family. On the upcoming weekend, October 11, Fernando Palazuelo, brother of the renowned Duchess of Huescar, is set to tie the knot. His bride is the young Peruvian actress Micaela Belmont. This union, the culmination of a seven-year relationship, promises to be one of the year’s most dazzling social events, with Sofía Palazuelo undoubtedly taking center stage among guests at the wedding of her last unmarried brother.
The ceremony will take place in the city of Cáceres, which holds special significance for the couple. It was here that the groom recently completed an ambitious undertaking—the restoration of the majestic Palacio Godoy, now transformed into a luxury hotel. This historic building will serve as the main stage for the festivities, drawing together the crème de la crème of Spanish high society and aristocracy to congratulate the newlyweds.
At 31, Micaela Belmont has not only built a successful film career but also hails from one of Peru’s most influential families. Her rise to fame in her homeland began with the role of Uchi, the daughter of impoverished aristocrats, in the hit TV series “Los Vilches.” Her recent appearance in the Spanish project “¿Qué te juegas?” alongside Cuban actor Rubén Cortada marked a new chapter in her professional life. Although no one in her family was involved in acting, Micaela noted in one interview that her parents always gave her tremendous support. Her late father, Rafael Belmont, was a well-known entrepreneur, and her mother, Diana Alvarez-Calderón, served as Minister of Culture in Ollanta Humala’s government.
She grew up in an environment that valued critical thinking and a love of the arts. Her family tree is filled with prominent political figures: her great-grandfather, Luis Gallo Porras, once served as vice president and prime minister of Peru, while her great-uncle, Guillermo Garrido-Lecca, headed the Ministry of Justice. Despite this heritage, Micaela chose not to follow in her ancestors’ footsteps, having fallen in love with the stage during school plays. She recalls that the moment she first stepped onto the stage, she realized her calling was to tell stories and transform into a wide variety of characters.
Fernando and Micaela first appeared as a couple at another family celebration. This took place in September 2021 at the wedding of Jaime Palazuelo, Fernando’s brother, and Peruvian socialite Micaela Rubini in Toledo. By then, the couple had already been in a relationship for three years, carefully keeping it out of the public eye. They continue this approach today, rarely appearing together in public. Their relationship remains strong but discreet. There are hardly any photos of the couple on the actress’s social media, and in her rare interviews, she avoids speaking about him. However, she once shared her thoughts on future motherhood, calling it a wonderful and life-changing decision.
