The media group Atresmedia has announced the start of filming for a new entertainment project that promises to become a major event on Spanish television. This is a local adaptation of the Dutch format “A Party to Die For,” which in Spain is called “Una fiesta de muerte.” The production will be handled by ITV Studios Iberia, already well known to viewers for hits like “Pasapalabra” and the “La Voz” franchise.
The show’s concept is reminiscent of the popular board game “Cluedo” brought to life. In each episode, seven celebrities gather at an exclusive party, which is suddenly interrupted by the staged murder of one of the guests. From that moment, an intense race against time begins. The participants must become detectives, investigating the crime scene, competing in various challenges, and deciphering clever clues. The main goal is to unmask the mysterious killer hiding behind a mask. Hosting this unique event is the charismatic Catalan showman Àngel Llàcer, who will guide the celebrity investigators throughout the evening.
A key feature of the format is its episodic nature. Each episode is a self-contained story, which means that the cast, storyline, and even the location will change from one program to the next. This approach keeps the intrigue and freshness at a high level. The creators promise a fully immersive investigation experience not just for the celebrities on set, but also for viewers at home, who will be able to form their own theories as they follow the unfolding events.
For Ángel Llàcer, this project is another step in strengthening his longstanding collaboration with Atresmedia. He has long been an integral part of the jury on the hugely popular show “Tu cara me suena,” and this season he will also head another premiere, “Congelados.” This is the Spanish version of the Japanese comedy show “Freeze,” where contestants must remain completely still in the most absurd and hilarious situations. Participating in such diverse formats highlights the host’s versatility.
The new project “Una fiesta de muerte” is positioned as family entertainment, designed to bring viewers of all ages together. The media group is betting on a mix of genres—detective, comedy, and competitive reality—continuing its successful strategy of adapting top international formats. It has not yet been decided which channel in the group will premiere the show; this decision will be made later, based on the final product and programming schedule.
