After nine years together, the Duke of Arjona (Duque de Arjona) Cayetano Martínez de Irujo and Bárbara Mirjan are preparing to make their union official. The wedding ceremony is scheduled for October 4 in Seville. The couple, whose relationship began in the summer of 2016 in Marbella, have long ignored criticism over their significant age difference. At the time they met, the aristocrat was 51 and his chosen partner was 20. In March 2025, they announced their decision to get married, sparking two main theories in society about their motives: a recent reconciliation of the groom with his younger sister Eugenia, and the couple’s desire to think about starting a family.
Ahead of the celebration, Cayetano and Bárbara organized a farewell to single life, choosing a non-traditional format. Instead of separate parties, the couple held a joint evening surrounded by family and friends. The event took place in Andalusia, where their relationship first began. The bride and groom attended the Festival Flamenco Trocadero (Festival Flamenco Trocadero) in Sotogrande, an exclusive residential complex between the provinces of Cádiz and Málaga. They enjoyed performances by renowned artists such as Antonio Carmona and Alba Molina, in an atmosphere blending traditional flamenco with modern influences.
This musical event also became a significant family occasion. At the festival, Cayetano and Bárbara, accompanied by Amina—his daughter from his marriage to Genoveva Casanova—met with the groom’s sister, Eugenia Martínez de Irujo, her partner Narcís Rebollo, and her daughter Tana Rivera. The warm interactions and joint photos of siblings confirmed that their differences are now in the past and the family has reunited ahead of this important event.
Preparations for the wedding are in full swing, and many details are already known to the public. The ceremony will take place at the church of Cristo de los Gitanos in Seville (iglesia del Cristo de los Gitanos). This venue has special significance for the Alba family: it is where the ashes of the groom’s mother, Duchess Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart, are laid to rest. Additionally, Cayetano himself and his children are members of the local religious brotherhood.
After the church ceremony, guests will head to a banquet at Las Arroyuelas estate (finca de Las Arroyuelas), located in the municipality of Carmona near Seville. This is the largest Alba family estate in Andalusia, covering 1,480 hectares, which Cayetano inherited from his mother and where he currently resides. The estate is used for agriculture—wheat, chickpeas, and sunflowers are grown there. It was also revealed that the important role of madrina at the wedding will not be performed by the groom’s sister, as might have been expected, but by his daughter Amina.
The entire elite of Spanish high society is expected to attend the celebration. Guests have already received digital preliminary invitations with a link to the wedding gift registry. Among the most affordable items on the list are a set of purple napkins and a linen tablecloth, each priced at 150 euros.
