Actress Verónica Sánchez, best known to the public for her role as Eva in the iconic TV series “Los Serrano,” has always been reserved about her private life. She deliberately avoids social networks and rarely shares details unrelated to her professional work. However, she recently made an exception, revealing a truly amusing story in which, aside from herself, the main characters were none other than the King and Queen of Spain.
During a recent interview with writer Luis Alegre, the actress recalled a funny incident from the past. It all began with an ordinary lunch at the famous Café Gijón in Madrid. After the meal, Alegre suggested continuing the evening at the cinema, mentioning that a few of his “friends” would be joining them. The film they watched that night was the 2008 drama “Elegy,” directed by Isabel Coixet and starring Penélope Cruz.
Sánchez was stunned to discover that these mysterious friends in the movie theater turned out to be none other than the then Prince and Princess of Asturias. “I found myself at the movies with Felipe and Letizia,” the actress recalls with a laugh. According to Alegre, who organized the gathering, Verónica’s facial expression at that moment was “unforgettable.”
The actress herself quickly regained her composure and responded to the situation with humor. Jokingly, she reproached the writer for introducing her, “a girl from the outskirts of Seville,” to future monarchs without any warning. This story has joined the collection of amusing encounters between Spanish celebrities and members of the royal family, as previously recounted by actresses such as Elena Furiase and Clara Lago.
Incidentally, Verónica Sánchez is regarded as one of the most respected actresses of her generation in Spain. Her career began in the late 1990s, but she won widespread acclaim through her role as Eva Capdevila in the TV series “Los Serrano,” which aired from 2003 to 2008. Following that project, she went on to enjoy a successful career in both film and television, showcasing her talent across a range of genres. Despite her popularity, Sánchez has always managed to keep her private life out of the spotlight. Her decision to leave social media a few years ago only reinforced her image as a serious artist focused on her profession.
