Unexpected news about the health of a member of the well-known Campos clan has stirred public attention. It has been revealed that José María Almoguera, son of Carmen Borrego, will soon undergo surgery. The urgent procedure is necessary due to serious complications from Brugada syndrome—a heart condition he has lived with for over a decade. Until recently, he kept this to himself, but now, for the first time, he has decided to share his experience.
News of the required surgery surfaced on a television show. It was revealed that the pacemaker implanted in José María twelve years ago, when he was just twenty-three, has begun to malfunction. The device, which was supposed to regulate his heartbeat, has instead started causing “anomalies.” Doctors from the hospital contacted him, informing him of the urgent need to replace the device and insisting that the procedure be carried out as soon as possible.
His mother and cousin, Alejandra Rubio, have already commented on the health problems facing the grandson of the legendary María Teresa Campos. Now, José María himself has finally broken his silence. Reporters caught up with him while he was out for a walk with his current partner, María Sánchez, known as ‘La Jerezana’, a relationship that began on a reality show. Almoguera did not go into medical details but spoke honestly about his emotional state.
He politely asked the reporter not to insist on a detailed interview, explaining that he was currently feeling ‘a bit anxious’ and wasn’t up for a long conversation. When asked directly if his feelings were related to the upcoming surgery, José María confirmed: ‘Of course, it’s all piling up at once.’ He also admitted he was ‘concerned’ about the procedure, a sentiment fully shared by his partner. However, he avoided answering why his cousin learned about the planned operation from television news.
It has already been confirmed that the hospitalization date is set and the operation will take place before the Christmas holidays. José María’s ex-wife, Paola Olmedo, mother of their two-year-old son Mark, also shared her thoughts. She confirmed that she had discussed the situation with her ex-husband, calling it ‘rather delicate.’ According to her, although José María is ‘a strong person,’ it’s ‘normal for him to be nervous.’ She also recalled that during their years together, he always took medical check-ups and examinations very seriously.
Incidentally, the Campos clan is one of the most prominent media dynasties in Spain. Its founder was the legendary TV host María Teresa Campos, who passed away in 2023. Her daughters, Terelu Campos and Carmen Borrego, also became well-known television presenters and participants in various shows. José María Almoguera, Carmen’s son, worked behind the scenes as a producer for many years, but in recent years he has increasingly become a newsmaker himself, especially after appearing on reality TV shows.
