The Spanish industrial group CIE Automotive has announced the completion of its acquisition of the entire shareholding in Weidplas Brasil Indústria e Comércio de Plásticos, formerly part of Techniplas. Following the transaction, the company has been renamed CIE Autometal Piracicaba. The deal was valued at approximately 65 million euros.
The acquisition price is about five times the EBITDA for the current year. The payment was made in cash, underscoring the Spanish company’s financial strength. The completion of the deal was reported after obtaining approval from the Brazilian antitrust authorities.
The integration process began after the initial announcement in June. The Piracicaba facility in São Paulo state employs around 600 people. In 2024, sales reached approximately 50 million euros. The plant specializes in producing high-tech plastic components, including decorative and functional parts. Advanced injection molding, double injection, painting, and assembly methods are used in its manufacturing processes.
CIE Automotive’s management notes that the addition of this new asset will strengthen ties with European and American carmakers. In addition, expanding production capacity and existing contracts set the stage for further growth in the coming years. The new division will be an important addition to the group’s technology portfolio.
