Key Real Madrid Academy Specialist Joins Morocco’s Football Structure

Abian Perdomo of Real Madrid: A New Chapter in the Development of Moroccan Football

A Spanish youth development expert leaves the club for the national team. Morocco anticipates changes. Experience with top Spanish teams is expected to boost the growth of local talent.

Abian Perdomo, who for many years oversaw the development of young footballers at the Madrid club, is finishing his work in Spain and preparing for a new challenge. He will soon join the structure of the Moroccan national team, where he will work on improving the youth training system.

Perdomo, a native of Tenerife, spent more than a decade at the Real Madrid academy, and previously worked with youth players at Atletico Madrid. During this time, he established himself as a specialist capable of identifying and nurturing promising football talents. His track record includes helping shape players such as Nico Paz, as well as making a significant contribution to the club’s successes in the 2021-2022 season.

Within the structure of the Madrid club, Perdomo was not only a link between the youth teams and the main squad but was also responsible for introducing new training methods. His professionalism was noted by both colleagues and management, especially during the period when, due to the head coach’s illness, he had to temporarily take a place on the first team’s bench.

Now the specialist faces new challenges in Morocco. The country’s federation aims to strengthen its position on the international stage after successful performances at the World Cup at both senior and youth levels. In Rabat, they expect that Perdomo’s experience will help create an effective system for identifying and developing local talent, so the team does not have to rely solely on players competing in European clubs.

In Morocco, Perdomo will work under the leadership of Fathi Jamal, who has long been involved in the country’s football development. Together with him and other experts, such as Fernando Da Cruz and Oscar Garro, the plan is to form a strong team of specialists capable of taking Moroccan football to a new level.

Perdomo’s move to the Moroccan federation highlights the growing interest in Spanish training methods. In the coming years, the country aims to bet on homegrown talent and create conditions for new stars to emerge, with hopes of repeating the successes of Achraf and Brahim.
