Aston Martin has undergone significant personnel changes: Enrico Cardile has taken over as technical director, and Adrian Newey and Andy Cowell have joined the project. The management of the Silverstone-based team hopes these moves will allow them to reach a new level in the Formula 1 championship as early as 2026.
Cardile set high expectations for the upcoming season, emphasizing that the team is aiming for the best possible result. According to him, the team does not consider failure an option and is confident in the chosen direction. At the same time, he noted it is still unclear when exactly Aston Martin will be able to prove itself—this could happen either at the start of the season or later.
The 2026 season will bring major changes to Formula 1’s technical regulations. Cardile pointed out that the lack of clear benchmarks complicates preparations: results from the wind tunnel or reducing the car’s weight do not provide a complete picture. Unlike previous years when teams could rely on experience and analyze their weaknesses, now all championship participants are operating under equal uncertainty.
According to Cardile, the AMR26 project is not limited to creating a new car. A key part of the work is restructuring internal processes, implementing new tools, and developing team culture. Aston Martin’s management is aiming not only for a strong start in 2026, but also to build a sustainable system capable of delivering consistent results in the long term.
The team emphasizes that the time before the season starts will be used as efficiently as possible. Special attention is being paid to analyzing the experience gained and applying it to future work. At Aston Martin, they believe that a comprehensive approach will not only help create a competitive car but also lay the foundation for future success.
