A major development has emerged in Spanish sports: one of the country’s most decorated track and field athletes, Ana Peleteiro, has resumed training. After a successful indoor season, where she claimed gold at the European Championships and bronze at the World Championships, the athlete from Galicia was forced to miss the summer season due to her second pregnancy.
However, at the end of July this year, Peleteiro suffered a heavy personal loss—she lost her child. This event was a serious ordeal for her and her family. Over the following weeks, Ana focused on recovery and gradually returned to her daily routine.
Just over two months after the tragedy, the athlete returned to the training base. On social media, she shared a video showing her getting back to familiar exercises. In her post, Peleteiro noted that she is feeling better both physically and mentally, and that it is important for her to return to what she loves doing.
In the video, accompanied by a song from Ariana Grande, Ana emphasizes the significance of every small success on the road to recovery. She also expressed gratitude to her husband and coach, Benjamin Compaoré, who supported her during this difficult time and helped her get back to the sport.
Peleteiro, who has become one of the key figures in Spanish athletics over the past decade, decided about a year ago to leave Iván Pedroso’s training group in Guadalajara and return to her hometown of Ribeira. She is now focused on her training again and plans to continue her athletic career.
Ana Peleteiro’s return to training has become a significant event for Spanish athletics. Her example inspires many, and the support of her loved ones, along with her professional perseverance, enables her to overcome challenges and move forward.
