Nike has announced the launch of the world’s first electric footwear designed to make running and long-distance walking easier. The new development, called Proyecto Amplify, features a lightweight motor, belt drive, and a battery housed in a bracelet. All components are integrated with carbon fiber sneakers, which can be used either with an exoskeleton or on their own.
The technology, developed based on data collected at Nike’s sports lab, enables athletes to cover greater distances with less energy. According to preliminary estimates, users will be able to extend their routes by more than three kilometers. Special attention has been given to runners who pace a kilometer in 6–8 minutes. The new product is expected to hit the market in spring 2026, but the price has not yet been disclosed.
During testing, more than four hundred athletes covered over 2.4 million steps—that’s roughly equivalent to 12,000 laps on a 200-meter track. Each of the nine versions of the device improved specific system components to achieve maximum efficiency and comfort.
In parallel, Nike announced the merger of its innovation, design, and product teams for the Nike, Jordan, and Converse brands. The unification aims to create a single creative platform focused on the needs of athletes. The company notes that thousands of scientists and engineers are involved in these efforts.
Among other new releases, Nike has unveiled its AeroFit apparel collection, which allows twice as much airflow compared to previous designs. This line was created to deliver maximum performance in extreme weather conditions and will be used for the first time at next year’s Men’s World Cup.
Another innovation is the Therma Fit Air Milano jacket, which enables athletes to regulate their body temperature in real time. Thanks to an internal air inflation and deflation system within special compartments, the jacket ensures comfort without the need to change clothing layers.
Rounding out the list is footwear based on neuroscience. Two new models, Nike Mind 001 and Mind 002, are designed to help athletes focus before and after competitions. Research has shown these sneakers activate key sensory areas of the brain by stimulating the foot, which improves body awareness and enhances concentration.
With these innovations, Nike continues to integrate cutting-edge technologies into sports gear, focusing on functionality, innovation, and user comfort. The company demonstrates a commitment to constant progress and the search for new solutions for both professional and amateur athletes.
